One of Fiji’s most luxurious and top independently owned/operated resorts, the award-winning Yasawa Island Resort and Spa, Fiji, recently announced the completion of a million-dollar renovation. The six-month renovation will be completed this month.

With only 18 spacious bungalows, a small group of Fijian villagers as its neighbors, and 30 minutes by private air transfer from Nadi International Airport, the secluded Resort has reasons to celebrate with a stunning new renovation of its public space as well as the exterior/interior of villas.

“Our Fijian family is delighted to continue to welcome new and return guests in 2024 and beyond with an exciting new renovation that is both stylish and sustainable,” says Interior Design Consultant Erin McCann.

“We are also pleased to share that the Resort is in the process of obtaining its EarthCheck certification,” says Erin McCann. EarthCheck’s certifications are a badge of honor given to hotels/resorts and tourism businesses, based on the brand’s ability to live up to their social corporate responsibility, show that they care for the people around them, and enhance their overall ecological sustainability, according to Erin McCann.

In keeping with the Resort’s original authentic Fijian design and natural elements, the renovation spotlights an eye toward sustainability with a newly refurbished main complex with a fountain made of natural stone, and indigenous granite that will enhance the entrance driveway and lobby arrival area. Interior enhancements include sleek teak furniture, accompanied by large decorative hanging lights fashioned with straw and rattan in the restaurant and bar, and energy-efficient lighting integrated throughout the resort.

For its accommodations, the resort sourced locally produced cinnamon wood to enhance the elegant pergolas in all 18 bungalows and in the Lomalagi (Fijian word for “heaven”) honeymoon bure.  Fijian Vesi hardwood, native to Fiji, is also being used for its guest room decks, and each accommodation is being re-thatched using grass derived from the Island.

The interior guest rooms will showcase large stone-like ceramic tile, handsome teak wood furniture, and hanging pendant-style lighting crafted with rattan.
