RegioJet launches night train connecting Ukrainian city with Prague via Slovakia

RegioJet, a member operator of ALLRAIL, has launched the first-ever Open Access 100 per cent commercial passenger rail service between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine. Notably, this service operates without subsidy and runs daily in both directions, marking a significant milestone in cross-border rail connectivity.

The night train, features sleeper coaches with both couchettes and private compartments, along with standard class seating. It establishes a direct long-distance service connecting the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Ukraine.

The direct overnight rail service operates on the Prague-Čadca-Žilina-Poprad-Košice-Chop route and vice versa. Trains depart from Prague main station at 21:52 and arrive in Chop at 10:35. The return journey from Chop departs at 17:35 and arrives in Prague at 5:46.

Ticket pricing starts from €18.90 for a seat and €29.90 for a berth.

Chop is an important passenger railway hub, and there will be a guaranteed transfer to onward services operated by Ukrainian Railways.

RegioJet, the privately-owned operator of this new EU-Ukraine service will also invest its own funds into the infrastructure at Chop railway station. “It is a gift to the Ukrainian people”, states RegioJet’s founder Radim Jančura.

ALLRAIL’s Armand Duthil says, “Two years after the unprovoked invasion by Russia, it is important to now enhance cross-border connectivity – with the aim that one day soon, Ukraine will join the Single European Railway Area.”
