THSC leadership discuss tourism and hospitality skilling initiatives with Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

THSC Leadership meets Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC), a sector skill council under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, recently held a meeting with Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (I/C) at Kaushal Bhavan. The meeting was attended by Jyoti Mayal, Chairperson, THSC, Rajan Bahadur, CEO, and Vivek Shandilya.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Minister discussed the extensive scope within the tourism and hospitality sectors and emphasised how skilling initiatives can create meaningful employment opportunities for the youth. The conversation highlighted the critical role of skill development in empowering young individuals to secure productive jobs in these growing industries.

Mayal and Bahadur provided an overview of various initiatives undertaken by THSC. They elaborated on programs such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Vidya Karyakram (PMVK), and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) being carried out under the guidance of the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC).

The discussion also covered the importance of enhancing skilling efforts with state governments, particularly in the North East region, the Ministry of Tourism. It was agreed that further meetings would be scheduled soon to strategise and plan the way forward for expanding and strengthening these skilling initiatives.
