According to data released by the United States National Travel and Tourism Office (NTTO), India has become the second-largest international source market for travel to the United States from January to May 2024, excluding Canada and Mexico. This surge in travel has broken all previous arrival records.

In May 2024 alone, 263,150 passengers travelled from India to the United States, marking a nearly 32 per cent increase from the 199,364 arrivals in May 2023. This significant rise secured India’s position as the second-highest market for visitors to the US for the month.

For the period between January and May 2024, India maintained its strong position with a total of 882,404 arrivals, placing it second only to the United Kingdom. This represents a substantial growth of 37.2 per cent compared to the 643,270 Indian arrivals recorded during the same period in 2023. Including arrivals from Canada and Mexico, India ranks as the fourth-largest source market for international visitors to the United States for this period.

The United States continues to be a top choice for Indian travellers seeking long-haul leisure destinations. The ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, co-hosted by the USA, has attracted significant interest from Indian fans. Other major upcoming sporting events, such as the FIFA World Cup 2026, are expected to draw even more visitors from India. Additionally, the anticipated introduction of new flights later this year will make travel to the US even more accessible for Indian travellers.

Acknowledging India’s importance as a key market for US tourism, Brand USA is committed to enhancing travel opportunities and experiences for Indian visitors through continued marketing efforts and collaborations within the Indian travel industry.
