IATO delegation meets new Cabinet Tourism Minister of India

An Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) delegation, comprising three senior office bearers—Rajiv Mehra (President), Ravi Gosain (Vice President), and Sanjay Razdan (Honorary Secretary)—met with Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, the newly appointed Cabinet Minister of Tourism, Government of India. The meeting took place in the minister’s office yesterday as a courtesy call and to congratulate him on his new role.

During the meeting, the Hon’ble Tourism Minister expressed his keen interest in understanding the reasons behind the recent drop in international tourist arrivals. He offered his full support from the Ministry of Tourism to help stimulate growth in inbound tourism to India. His receptiveness and willingness to engage with the IATO delegation underscored his commitment to addressing the challenges faced by the tourism industry.

The IATO delegation appreciated the minister’s openness and conveyed their intention to hold another meeting to discuss in detail the various issues impacting inbound tourism. They plan to share their insights and suggestions on how the Ministry of Tourism and other related ministries can support the tourism industry more effectively.

Rajiv Mehra expressed optimism about the future of inbound tourism under the dynamic leadership of the new Tourism Minister. He conveyed confidence that with the minister’s proactive approach, India will witness significant growth in international tourist arrivals. The IATO has assured its full support to the government and the Ministry of Tourism in achieving the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of maximising foreign tourist visits to India.
