The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB), Maldives, has appointed Mohamed Bassam Adam as the interim in-charge of the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), following the dismissal of Fathmath Thaufeeq (Kudy) from her position as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director.

Bassam Adam, the Deputy Managing Director of MMPRC, steps into his new interim role amid the recent shake-up within the corporation. The exact reasons behind Thaufeeq’s dismissal have not yet been disclosed.

MMPRC Chairperson Aisha Nurain Janah and Board Member Rafil Mohamed also resigned from their positions. It is reported that Thaufeeq’s reluctance to implement certain board decisions and her authorisation of expenditures contrary to board directives led to the resignations of the board members.

Mohamed Bassam Adam brings a wealth of experience to his new position, with a background spanning over 20 years in the tourism industry. His expertise ranges from ticketing to hotel bookings, and he has a proven track record of fostering growth and success within the tourism sector.

Adam’s influence within the industry extends beyond his role at MMPRC. He has served as a Board Member of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO), where he has played an active role in shaping industry policies and advocating for the interests of travel agents and tour operators.
