The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has announced that its President & CEO, Julia Simpson, will be unable to attend the upcoming Global Summit in Rome from 28–30 September due to illness.
In her absence, Gloria Guevara, former WTTC President & CEO, will return to the helm on an interim basis to lead the global tourism body through the duration of the summit. The WTTC Board and Members expressed their gratitude to Guevara for stepping in at a crucial moment.
Greg O’Hara, WTTC Chair, commented, “I’d like to send Julia my best wishes for her speedy recovery and would also like to thank Gloria for stepping in at such a crucial time. I am sure that Gloria will lead the Global Summit to great success.”
Manfredi Lefebvre, WTTC Chair Elect, added, “WTTC and its Members wish Julia Simpson a swift recovery and thank Gloria Guevara for supporting the organisation in her absence. Gloria brings decades of experience as one of the most respected leaders in the sector.”
