Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu has been fully closed following escalating demonstrations across the Kathmandu Valley. A series of fires in areas including Gothatar, coupled with deteriorating aviation security conditions, led to the suspension of all operations. The Nepali Army has been deployed to provide security, and both domestic and international flights remain suspended until further notice.
Air India has announced a one-time waiver on rescheduling charges for passengers holding confirmed bookings to and from Kathmandu until 11 September, on tickets issued up to 9 September.
IndiGo has cancelled all flights to and from Kathmandu until 1200 hrs on 10 September. The airline is offering passengers the option to rebook on alternate flights or claim refunds via its website. As an immediate relief measure, IndiGo is extending waivers on rescheduling and cancellations for travel until 12 September, applicable for tickets booked on or before 9 September.
