Travel industry unites for TAAI’s 16th annual cricket tournament in Pune

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) – Central & South Maharashtra Chapter successfully organized its highly anticipated annual Cricket Tournament, marking the 16th edition of the event. The tournament commenced on February 1, 2025, and concluded with an exciting final in Pune on February 23, 2025.

The event was graced by TAAI National President Sunil Kumar R, along with Vice President Lokesh Bettaiah, Hon. Secretary Shreeram Patel, and Hon. Treasurer Paras Lakhia, who attended as Chief Guests. Their presence added to the enthusiasm of the participants and reinforced the association’s commitment to fostering camaraderie within the travel industry.

A total of 16 teams participated in the tournament, with the final match played between Thomas Cook and Akbar Travels of India. The thrilling final turned into a closely contested match, ultimately won by Thomas Cook for the second consecutive year.

The tournament was initially launched in 2006 by Mehboob Shaikh, Chairman of the Central & South Maharashtra Chapter, and Krishna Gopalan, Chairman of the Sports Committee and Past Chapter Chairman

Other dignitaries from chapter Bahram Zadeh – Past Chairman, Yazdi Marker – Chapter Secretary and Zakir Sayed – Chapter Treasurer were also present on the occasion.

The TAAI Cricket Tournament – Pune has become a legacy event, uniting members of the travel industry and airlines year after year.
