Tamara Leisure Experiences has announced the launch of Raé by Tamara, a new hospitality brand dedicated to spiritual tourism and pilgrimage travel, marking what the company describes as India’s first faith-intelligent hospitality concept.
The launch comes at a time when spiritual tourism is emerging as one of the fastest-growing segments within India’s travel landscape, driven by improved infrastructure, enhanced connectivity and a growing preference for meaningful, culturally rooted travel experiences.
According to the company, Raé by Tamara has been designed to bridge the gap between traditional pilgrimage travel and contemporary hospitality, creating experiences that are sensitive to the emotional, cultural and spiritual aspects of the journey.

Commenting on the launch, Samir MC, CEO, Tamara Leisure Experiences said, “Spiritual tourism in India is at a historic inflection point. What was once volume-led and access-driven is now becoming deeply experiential and intent-led. This evolution is driving strong premiumisation within the category, with mid-upscale and premium pilgrimage stays growing at an estimated 20–24% CAGR. Despite the scale of this movement, India has never had a dedicated hospitality brand built exclusively for spiritual tourism. Existing formats have merely adapted conventional hospitality models to these destinations, without truly understanding the emotional, cultural, and experiential realities that define the journey itself and its purpose, revealing a clear whitespace. Through Raé by Tamara, we are architecting an entirely new hospitality category, setting a completely new benchmark for how spiritual journeys are experienced in the country. Intuitive in design, responsive in service, and grounded in purpose, the brand reflects Tamara’s larger vision of leadership as a long-term custodian of responsible hospitality culture, heritage, and destination ethos.”
The brand derives its name from ‘Raé’, symbolising a ray of light, grace and spiritual radiance. It is built around five guiding principles representing divinity, hope, gratitude, optimism and restoration, which collectively shape the guest experience across all touchpoints.
As part of its first phase of expansion, Tamara Leisure Experiences will rebrand its existing properties in Guruvayur and Kumbakonam under the Raé by Tamara banner, while its upcoming property in Velankanni will also become part of the new brand.
The company is additionally expanding through asset-light developments in Tirupati, Palani and Tiruvannamalai. Guruvayur is scheduled to open in July 2026, followed by Kumbakonam in August 2026, while Velankanni, Tirupati and Tiruvannamalai are expected to welcome guests during FY27.
According to the company, the portfolio will combine new developments and selected existing properties reimagined around a common brand philosophy focused on faith-conscious hospitality.
The guest experience will extend beyond conventional accommodation offerings, incorporating locally rooted ‘Mitra’ companions, shrine-aligned operating schedules, personalised pre-arrival ritual guidance and faith-conscious dining concepts designed to support pilgrims throughout their journey.
Expanding on the brand’s vision, Samir MC added, “With Rae our vision is not just to build hotels near places of worship but to build a trust system that the faithful turn to every time they undertake a sacred journey, across all faiths, across the country, across a lifetime of pilgrimage. We do anticipate having around 25 properties signed or operational by 2030, across India’s pilgrimage circuit, driven by consistent demand and the growing shift towards more organized, experience-led spiritual travel.
The company expects to have approximately 25 properties either operational or signed by 2030, creating a nationwide network across India’s major pilgrimage circuits.
Through Raé by Tamara, Tamara Leisure Experiences aims to create a new category within Indian hospitality by combining spiritual sensitivity, local community integration and contemporary hospitality standards to redefine the pilgrimage travel experience.
