TAFI North India Chapter convenes bi-monthly meet, unveils expansion plans and strategic alliances

The Northern India Chapter of the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) held its bi-monthly meeting at The Park, New Delhi, bringing together over 85 members of the travel trade community for an evening focused on strategic growth, industry partnerships, and knowledge-sharing.

The gathering commenced on a solemn note with a moment of silence in memory of the late Vijay Gupta, former Chairman of TAFI North India, in recognition of his enduring contributions to the travel fraternity.

In his welcome address, Khushvinder Sarna, Chairman of the North India Chapter, reaffirmed the chapter’s commitment to strengthening unity, expanding regional outreach, and creating new opportunities for members.

Key Highlights from the Chairman’s Report:

  • Formation of the Punjab Chapter: A new milestone was marked with the appointment of Rajeshwar Dang as the City Convener for Punjab. With a proven leadership track record, he will spearhead efforts to build a dynamic new chapter in the region.
  • Upcoming Chapters in Uttar Pradesh & Rajasthan: Expansion plans are underway, and members have been encouraged to contribute their ideas to help build a stronger TAFI network in these states.
  • High-Level Industry Engagement: Sarna shared insights from a significant meeting with the UAE Ambassador on 4th November 2024. The Ambassador extended strong support for Indian travel professionals, reflecting growing international recognition.
  • Strong Presence at Global Conventions: TAFI North India played a pivotal role at the TAFI Convention in Vietnam (Jan 17–20, 2025), with one of the largest participating contingents, including enthusiastic representation from Punjab agents.
  • Strategic Tie-ups:
    • A partnership was announced with Indo Global Tourism for their upcoming event on 16th April at Novotel, Chandigarh.
    • Another collaboration was formalized with TTJ TRAVMART, offering TAFI members special rates for all their upcoming events.

Engaging Knowledge Sessions for TAFI Members:

  • Rai Achal Krishna, National Joint Treasurer, shared an important update on TAFI’s upcoming agreement with VFS Global, which will provide members with enhanced visa processing support.
  • Tarun from Aseago delivered a concise presentation on travel insurance solutions, highlighting the importance of comprehensive coverage in today’s travel landscape.
  • The team from DreamFolks, led by Mr. Karan, introduced a suite of premium travel services designed to elevate client experiences and add value to agent offerings.
  • Jasminder Wadhwa, General Manager of Praveg Limited, captivated members with a detailed showcase of their current and upcoming hotel and luxury tent city properties across India. The video presentation was so well-received that it was played again on popular request.

To keep the atmosphere engaging, Wadhwa conducted a quiz based on the presentation. Five winners received 2N/3D stay vouchers, and an additional five members won the same reward through a lucky draw.

The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Chapter Secretary Dinesh Kumar, followed by a networking session over cocktails and dinner.
