TAAP AGM signals new direction, advancing through unity and opportunity

Travel Agencies Association of Pune (TAAP) AGM

The Travel Agencies Association of Pune (TAAP) hosted its Annual General Meeting at Hotel Tarawade Clarks Inn, bringing together members, guests, and industry leaders for a day of reflection, collaboration, and renewed purpose.

Led by TAAP President Nilesh Bhansali, the event highlighted the power of unity in navigating industry challenges and unlocking new opportunities. “In today’s fast-paced world, the travel industry faces many challenges, but with unity and vision, new avenues of income and growth naturally emerge. TAAP is not merely an association; it is a family,” he remarked.

Secretary Aniket Kelkar presented a detailed review of the past year’s activities, while Treasurer Mohan Shedge delivered a transparent financial report. A well-researched vote of thanks was shared by Payal Joshi, expressing appreciation for the collective efforts of the members.

Vice President Amit Pandit, along with Navin Mahajan, Krishna Gaikwad, Vivek Gole, and Vishwanath Kakade, extended a warm welcome to the guests, fostering an engaging and inclusive atmosphere. The proceedings were smoothly anchored by Mugdha Pandit.

Adding an international dimension to the AGM, the presence of distinguished guests Rustam Chhetri from Nepal and Hemlal Sharma from Bhutan signaled the beginning of TAAP’s global outreach. Former Presidents Dr. Vishwas Kelkar, Deepak Pujari, and Jagannath Pandit also graced the occasion and shared valuable insights.

The Open Forum emerged as the heart of the event, encouraging open dialogue on industry trends, challenges, and new initiatives. Discussions laid the groundwork for forward-looking strategies.

In light of the rising number of fraudulent travel agencies, TAAP launched a public awareness campaign urging travellers to “book only through certified TAAP professionals” to ensure safe and reliable travel planning.

To reinforce professionalism within the industry, TAAP introduced the ‘Professional Travel Agent Certification’ initiative. Speaking on the program, Hemant Pai said, “Business knowledge should not be a privilege of a few, from now on, every agency will operate based on TAAP’s defined professional benchmarks. This will strengthen customer trust and agent confidence.”

The overarching message of the AGM was clear: together, TAAP members can overcome any challenge. Whether facing economic hurdles or adapting to evolving market dynamics, the association continues to rise with resilience and determination, forging new paths for the future of Pune’s travel trade community.
