Sun PhuQuoc Airways (SPA) has appointed Minar Travels (India) Pvt. Ltd. as its General Sales Agent (GSA) in India, marking a strategic step to strengthen its presence in the South Asian market.
The move aligns with the airline’s strategy to tap into India’s fast-growing outbound travel segment, particularly across leisure, MICE and premium travel categories. With over three decades of industry experience, Minar Travels will oversee the airline’s commercial operations in India, including passenger revenue development, distribution expansion, marketing initiatives and partnerships with travel agencies, online platforms and corporate clients.
The appointment is expected to accelerate the airline’s market entry while leveraging local expertise and established distribution networks to enhance reach and operational efficiency.
Sun PhuQuoc Airways operates a full-service carrier model across its routes, offering inclusive services such as meals, checked baggage and a Business Class cabin with premium amenities. The airline aims to capture the mid-to-high-end travel segment between India and Vietnam.
Phu Quoc, positioned as the airline’s central hub, is emerging as a preferred destination for Indian travellers, driven by its luxury resorts, natural landscapes and diverse entertainment offerings. The island also offers a 30-day visa-free policy for international visitors, further strengthening its appeal.
Commenting on the partnership, Shallin Magoo, Senior Vice President – Aviation & Airline Relations at Minar Travels, said, “Minar Travels will focus on optimising the distribution system and increasing market coverage, with the expectation of delivering positive commercial results for Sun PhuQuoc Airways in India.”
As a member of the Sun Group ecosystem, Sun PhuQuoc Airways operates on a hub-and-spoke model, with Phu Quoc as its central hub. This hub is integrated with the island’s tourism, resort, and entertainment ecosystem. Since its inception, the airline has consistently demonstrated positive performance, ranking among industry leaders in On-Time Performance (OTP) while steadily expanding its fleet and international network.
As part of its long-term expansion strategy, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is also scaling up its fleet and network. In February 2026, the airline signed a deal to acquire 40 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, valued at USD 22.5 billion, marking the largest wide-body aircraft order in Vietnam’s aviation history.
