In a major milestone for Asia’s cruise industry, StarCruises and Dream Cruises—the newly revitalised successors to the iconic Star Cruises brand—have officially launched their next chapter with a grand inaugural ceremony aboard the Star Voyager in Singapore. The relaunch reintroduces two legendary cruise brands under a new vision, backed by over 30 years of cruising heritage in Asia.
The official event, held on board the Star Voyager at the Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC), coincided with the ship’s maiden voyage under the StarCruises banner following a US$ 50 million refit. Singapore will now serve as a key homeport and destination, alongside other Southeast Asian cities including Jakarta, Melaka, Bangkok, and Ho Chi Minh City, offering passengers multi-country embarkation options.
The relaunch event was officiated by Jean Ng, Assistant Chief Executive – Experience Development Group, Singapore Tourism Board, Jacqueline Tan, CEO of Singapore Cruise Centre, and top executives from the cruise lines including Colin Au, CEO and Executive Director, and Michael Goh, President of StarCruises and Dream Cruises.
“We are thrilled and honoured to return to our roots with the launch of the revitalized StarCruises and Dream Cruises brands, offering an enhanced cruising experience. To celebrate this milestone, we are also excited to introduce the Star Voyager, as she embarks on her maiden voyage from Singapore, exploring the wonders of Southeast Asia,” said Michael Goh.
Jean Ng highlighted the strategic significance of the launch, stating, “Star Voyager’s seasonal homeporting in Singapore, offering several new itineraries across Southeast Asia, marks an exciting milestone for our cruise industry. Her addition bolsters our variety of cruise offerings in Singapore, underscoring the strong confidence in Singapore’s flourishing cruise industry. As one of Asia’s leading cruise hubs, we remain committed to strengthening our cruise offerings for locals and international visitors to enjoy.”
Jacqueline Tan added, “Singapore Cruise Centre is extremely pleased to welcome back StarCruises to homeport at our Terminal again. This feels like something of a homecoming since their first ship – Langkapuri Star Aquarius – was homeported with us 32 years ago, back in 1993. Our Harbourfront Cruise terminal location also provides Star Voyager passengers seamless access to the Precinct’s rich amenities with over 1 million sqft of retail and F&B space, a convenient multi-modal transportation hub for easy access to Singapore’s many attractions, including Sentosa which sits right across the Bay. These attributes reinforce our position as a preferred port for smaller and medium-sized vessels”
Distinctive Brand Experiences
StarCruises is positioned as an affordable lifestyle cruising brand catering to the Asian market, with a more intimate experience on mid-sized ships like Star Voyager and Star Navigator, each accommodating around 2,000 guests.
Dream Cruises, in contrast, is focused on luxury cruising, offering expansive ships such as the Genting Dream, which is homeported in Singapore year-round. The brand promises world-class service, exclusive privileges, and premium amenities to upscale travellers.
