Souvagya Mohapatra, Managing Director – India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka at Atmosphere Core, has been appointed Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee for a one-year term. The appointment recognises his leadership in the hospitality sector and his contribution to tourism development across the region.

With more than three decades of experience in hospitality and tourism, Mohapatra currently leads Atmosphere Core’s strategic expansion across India, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka while supporting the company’s broader growth in the Asia-Pacific region. Under his leadership, the hospitality group has announced an ambitious development pipeline, including multiple new properties across India.

Known for his focus on operational excellence, innovation and guest-centric hospitality, Mohapatra has played a key role in strengthening Atmosphere Core’s presence in South Asia. He continues to champion the company’s “Joy of Giving” philosophy, centred on authentic guest experiences, service excellence and sustainable value creation.

As Chair of the FICCI Eastern Region Tourism Committee, operating under the National Tourism Committee, Mohapatra is expected to bring together industry, government and community stakeholders to accelerate tourism development in Eastern India and the wider region. Drawing on his extensive experience in hotel development, regional brand building and destination promotion, he is well placed to contribute to strategic policy recommendations, capacity building initiatives and investment friendly frameworks. His deep understanding of both mature and emerging markets will support FICCI’s efforts to strengthen connectivity, enhance tourism infrastructure and improve service standards.

The press statement stated that his appointment comes at a time when India’s tourism sector is witnessing strong growth, supported by improving infrastructure, rising domestic travel and increasing international interest. FICCI said Mohapatra’s experience in scaling hospitality brands, developing talent and building cross-border partnerships will support its efforts to promote tourism as a driver of inclusive economic growth, while advancing destination marketing, investment and sustainable tourism practices.
