Sikkim Tourism launches online payment system to streamline industry transactions

Sikkim

The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, has unveiled a new “Online Payment System” to facilitate seamless financial transactions for tourism-related service providers. The digital initiative was officially launched by Governor Om Prakash Mathur alongside Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang during the state’s 50th Statehood Day celebrations held at Manan Bhawan, Gangtok.

Designed to ease the operational processes for hotels, homestays, travel agencies, tour operators, guides, and other tourism stakeholders, the system allows users to make online payments for services such as registration, renewal, license duplication, upgradation, lease or rent of tourism infrastructure, and clearance of arrears. This includes assets like eco-huts, ropeways, waiting sheds, and restaurants.

Accessible through the “Payment” section on the department’s official website https://sikkimtourism.gov.in, the portal offers clear instructions, fee details, and a step-by-step guide to ensure a user-friendly experience. Users can generate an invoice, utilize their transaction ID, and submit the invoice copy to the department for processing.

The initiative, led by Principal Director (Accounts) Binod Sharma, aims to minimize paperwork, improve approval efficiency, and enhance transparency in the tourism sector.
