In a grand ceremony held at The Ashok, New Delhi, the Union Minister for Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, unveiled the official logo to mark the beginning of celebrations for the 75th Anniversary of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI). The event, attended by G20 Sherpa Amitabh Kant, senior members of TAAI, and leading figures from the travel and tourism industry, commemorated TAAI’s historic journey since its inception in 1951.
Established just four years after India’s independence, TAAI has grown into the country’s foremost representative association for promoting travel, tourism, and hospitality. The unveiling ceremony set the tone for a year-long series of events leading up to 2026, which will mark the 75th year of TAAI.
Speaking at the event, Sunil Kumar, President, TAAI, described the milestone as a significant moment for India’s travel and tourism industry. “The 75 years of TAAI is a historic milestone, not just for the association but for the entire travel, tourism, and hospitality sector of India. This is a rare and special moment that TAAI is blessed to celebrate,” he said.
Kumar highlighted TAAI’s commitment to its members through the “Member First Program” and outlined its upcoming initiatives, emphasising the association’s vision for a collaborative future. “The runway to the 75 Years of TAAI will feature milestones that strengthen industry partnerships, education for upgrades, and community engagement. We invite industry leaders, partners, and colleagues to join us in celebrating this splendid dedication to the travel and tourism industry of India,” Kumar added.
The evening’s highlight was the keynote address by Amitabh Kant, former CEO of NITI Aayog and India’s G20 Sherpa, who underscored the importance of TAAI’s role in shaping the country’s travel and tourism landscape. The event also saw participation from office bearers of FAITH, IATO, ADTOI, TAFI, and other prominent industry associations.
Unveiling the theme “Connect – Collaborate – Celebrate,” TAAI announced its approach for the 75th-anniversary celebrations, emphasising activities that reflect the association’s mission to promote sustainability, member interests, and industry growth. The theme will serve as a guiding principle for TAAI’s year-long initiatives and events.
“We stand united at the threshold of a great event. This milestone is not merely an association achievement but a hallmark dedication to India’s travel and tourism industry,” Kumar concluded.
