Rail Europe, in collaboration with Lufthansa Group, Travel Switzerland, Interlaken Tourism Board, Montreux-Vevey Tourisme, and TGV Lyria, organised an extraordinary familiarisation (FAM) tour to Switzerland and Paris for its General Sales Agents (GSAs) from India and the GCC region. Rail Europe planned this trip after a gap of almost four years following the pandemic, as a reward for their GSAs’ continuous efforts to sell train travel in Europe.
Their adventure began in the picturesque Swiss Alps, specifically in the Interlaken region. Unique experiences included Raclette rafting on Lake Brienz, set against a backdrop of snowcapped mountains, a chocolate-making workshop, and adventurous activities such as the First Glider, where participants could fly like an eagle, and the First Flyer on Grindelwald First mountain.
The group then headed to the Montreux region, enjoying the Prestige Class experience on the scenic Golden Pass line and participating in snow activities on Glacier 3000. Highlights of this region included cellar wine tasting at Domaine Bovy, a visit to Charlie Chaplin’s Museum, and stunning views from Chillon Castle.
The main objective of this trip was to showcase to the agents the benefits of the Swiss Travel Pass and its add-ons, such as discounts on mountain excursions, free entry to museums, and the opportunity to experience the high-speed TGV Lyria train from Geneva to Paris, the headquarters of Rail Europe.
From the romantic Swiss Alps, the group boarded the high-speed train to the City of Love, Paris. In the French capital, they strolled through the streets of Montmartre, explored the city on a hop-on-hop-off tour, ascended to the highest level of the Eiffel Tower, and concluded the mesmerising FAM trip with a romantic dinner cruise along the Seine River.
This familiarisation trip was a resounding success, as participants experienced Rail Europe’s products firsthand, promoting #unlockconnections and #sustainabletravel, and empowering agents to advocate train travel to their clients under the initiative #makingtraintraveleasy.
