SKAL International Pune hosted the highly successful “Pedal for a Purpose” Cyclothon on September 22, 2024. The event was designed to foster unity among Pune’s travel fraternity while making a significant social impact. The event saw the participation of over 80 riders and 220 attendees, making it a landmark occasion for the city.
The cyclothon kicked off at 7:30 am with a flag-off ceremony by notable dignitaries, including Amit Sharma, General Manager of Amanora The Fern, Abhishek Sahai, General Manager of Conrad Pune, Pankaj Saxena, General Manager of Radisson Blu Kharadi Pune, and Biswajit Biswas, Executive Director of Ana Hotels and Resorts. Along the route, riders made stops at three “Impact Stops” where they pledged to plant five trees, adhere to road safety guidelines, and reduce plastic consumption, further reinforcing the event’s environmental and social goals.

Upon completing the ride, participants were welcomed by a dynamic team of over 30 Dhol Tasha players, infusing the event with a lively and festive atmosphere. Non-riders also enjoyed a variety of activities, including Yoga and Zumba sessions, a painting competition, and engaging games. The day’s entertainment was rounded out with captivating dance performances and a beatboxing show.
A hearty breakfast spread was served, followed by exciting lucky draws that saw many participants walking away with coveted prizes.
Shaberam Rabbani, President of SKAL Pune, praised the event’s associate partners TAAI, TAAFI, PHA, and IIHM for their unwavering support, highlighting that such partnerships were essential to the success of this event. Medical safety was provided by Manipal Hospitals, while Asego covered insurance, ensuring that the event ran smoothly.
