The Hong Kong Government has announced the appointment of Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok as the new Chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), succeeding Dr Pang Yiu-kai. Dr Lam will assume the role from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028. Additionally, Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, Nikki Ng Mien-hua, and Melissa Kaye Pang have been appointed as members of the HKTB for a two-year term from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2027.
The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Miss Rosanna Law, welcomed the appointments, emphasising Dr Lam’s extensive experience in tourism and business leadership.
“Dr Peter Lam Kin-ngok, who previously served as Chairman of the HKTB, brings invaluable expertise in promoting Hong Kong’s tourism sector. With his broad business acumen and strategic vision, he is the ideal candidate to lead the HKTB in elevating Hong Kong’s global appeal,” said Miss Law. “I am confident that under his leadership, the Board will continue to showcase Hong Kong’s unique attractions and drive sustained tourism growth. I also extend a warm welcome to the newly appointed members, Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, Nikki Ng Mien-hua, and Melissa Kaye Pang.”
Miss Law also expressed gratitude to Dr Pang Yiu-kai for his leadership, particularly during the challenges of the pandemic.
“With his foresight and extensive industry network, Dr Pang successfully steered the HKTB through a critical recovery phase, ensuring Hong Kong’s tourism industry rebounded strongly,” she noted.
Dr Lam is the Chairman of Lai Sun Group and currently serves as Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee on Attracting Strategic Enterprises, the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers, and the Trade and Industry Advisory Board.
New HKTB Membership Structure
Appointments to the HKTB are made by the Chief Secretary for Administration, under the authority of the Chief Executive and in accordance with the Hong Kong Tourism Board Ordinance (Chapter 302).
