Oman Air hikes fuel surcharge by up to 160 per cent as fuel costs surge; deploys additional flights

Oman Air

Oman Air has announced an increase in fuel surcharges on its international flights following a recent surge in aviation jet fuel prices amid continued volatility in global energy markets.

The airline stated that the revised surcharge has increased by up to 160 per cent, in line with measures adopted by several carriers in response to rising fuel costs.

The updated surcharge is already applicable across Oman Air’s international network, with the exception of Europe, where the change will come into effect from March 19, 2026. The surcharge does not apply to domestic flights and will be automatically included in fares at the time of booking. Tickets issued prior to the implementation date will remain unaffected unless reissued voluntarily.

Additionally, Oman Air has been operating additional flights across its network to support travellers impacted by ongoing regional disruptions. Since 1 March 2026, the airline has operated over 150 additional flights, carrying nearly 270,000 passengers out of Muscat.

While some regional routes remain temporarily suspended due to airport closures, the airline has redeployed capacity to other key destinations, including London, Istanbul, Munich, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Cairo, and Mumbai.
