The Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) organised a three-city roadshow across Bengaluru, Mumbai and Indore, held on June 2, 3 and 5, 2026, respectively, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the Indian travel trade and showcase the island nation’s evolving tourism offerings.

The roadshow brought together a delegation of 26 stakeholders from Mauritius, including destination management companies (DMCs), luxury hotels and resorts, activity providers and airline partners. More than 300 travel agents, tour operators and travel trade media representatives attended the events across the three cities.

MTPA highlighted Mauritius’ diverse tourism proposition, ranging from leisure holidays and destination weddings to MICE, wellness and experiential travel. Participants were also briefed on accommodation options, experiences and air connectivity from India.

The initiative comes amid strong growth from the Indian market. Mauritius welcomed 25,930 Indian visitors between January and mid-May 2026, representing a 19.1 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.

The roadshow also reflected MTPA’s broader strategy of positioning Mauritius beyond a traditional leisure destination and promoting its appeal across multiple travel segments. The authority emphasised the island’s strengths in destination weddings, corporate events, wellness tourism and repeat visitation driven by its diverse experiences.

Dinesh Burrenchobay, Chairman, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority

Commenting on the initiative, Dinesh Burrenchobay, Chairman, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority, said, “India is close to Mauritius in every sense, geographically, culturally, and emotionally. Indian travellers often refer to it as a’ home away from home’, and yet each time they return we ensure that they find something new to discover. Mauritius is an island that reveals itself over time, and no two visits are ever quite the same, whether it is a family finding a new corner of the island, a couple celebrating a milestone, or solo travellers seeking something beyond the expected. This roadshow was our opportunity to bring that versatility and depth straight to the attention of India’s travel trade, and to ensure they can share it with confidence with their clients. We want Mauritius to be an unforgettable experience for our Indian travellers”

Sunil Mathapati, Country Manager, MTPA India, added, “The roadshow revealed how genuinely curious and enthusiastic the travel trade community is about Mauritius right now. The hype among the Indian tourists is also consistently growing, as reflected in the statistical data. Events such as these will allow MTPA to channel that energy into stronger partnerships and better-informed selling. The conversations we had during the three days gave us every reason to be excited about what comes next.”

The roadshow also received positive feedback from participating travel trade partners. Veena H. of Wayfarers Hub, Bengaluru, said, “The Mauritius Roadshow in Bengaluru was outstanding and exceptionally well-organized down to the smallest details. Thanks to a full-day format, we had ample time for in-depth discussions and one-on-one meetings with quality hoteliers and B2B DMC partners that were genuinely fruitful. Kudos to the team for executing such a focused trade engagement platform, definitely one of the most productive roadshows I’ve attended this year.”

Jason Britter, Director of Sales, Maritim Resort and Spa Mauritius, who participated from Mauritius, added, “As a first-time participant, we were impressed by the quality of the organization, the professionalism of the program, and the strong attendance of travel trade partners in each city. The roadshow provided an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing relationships, establish new partnerships and better understand the evolving needs of the Indian outbound travel market. We were particularly encouraged by the strong interest shown in Mauritius and in our brand across all three destinations.

As part of its long-term strategy, MTPA also reiterated its commitment to improving connectivity through closer collaboration with airline partners to enhance flight frequencies and expand access from additional Indian cities.
