Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve has unveiled The Mandapa River Estate, a reimagined interpretation of its Three Bedroom Villa, inspired by the spiritual energy of Ubud and the flowing rhythm of the sacred Ayung River.
Located adjacent to the resort’s 500-year-old temple, the estate is accessed through a grand, hand-carved wooden gate adorned with Balinese flora and fauna. Designed in accordance with the traditional Balinese architectural principles of Asta Kosala Kosali and influenced by the ancient Majapahit Kingdom, the entrance symbolises harmony and balance, marking the transition between the human realm and the spiritual world.

Spanning approximately 2,000 square metres, The Mandapa River Estate features three private bedrooms with modern en-suite bathrooms, including a master bedroom with an annexed twin room, accommodating up to nine guests. The estate offers expansive indoor and outdoor living areas, a fully equipped kitchen, and multiple dining spaces, including an alfresco pergola set amid fragrant tropical gardens. An expansive climate-controlled infinity pool forms the centrepiece of the estate, seamlessly blending with the surrounding landscape, with uninterrupted views of the Ayung River.

Interiors are defined by earthy tones and natural materials, enhanced by hand-painted murals and curated artworks by Balinese artisans. These elements draw inspiration from Bali’s heritage, myths and legends, offering guests a deeper cultural connection while maintaining a refined, contemporary aesthetic.
Commenting on the launch, Masanori Hosoya, General Manager, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, said, “This year marks our 10th anniversary, and our vision remains focused on providing guests with comfort and privacy in a natural setting through our new renovations. The Mandapa River Estate is a sanctuary for multi-generational travelers, striking a balance between intimate and communal spaces. Our estate is one of the most exclusive private estates in the world, set amid rare natural beauty and ancient culture.”
Designed as a private retreat rooted in cultural heritage, The Mandapa River Estate offers bespoke experiences including sunrise meditations, private Watsu sessions, quantum healing therapies and gourmet barbecues on the veranda. Each stay is curated by a dedicated personal butler, known as Patih, a title inspired by the royal courts of Ubud, while a private chef is available on request to create customised dining experiences.
