The Champions Boat League (CBL), Kerala Tourism’s signature water festival, is set to return next week with its 2025 edition featuring 14 races across 14 venues over three months.
Season 5 will open on September 19 with the inaugural race on the Pampa River in Kainakary, Alappuzha, and culminate with the President’s Trophy at Ashtamudi, Kollam, on December 6. While the majority of races will be held in South Kerala, the season will also see three events each in the Malabar and central regions.
After the opening race, the league will move to Dharmadom (Kannur), followed by Kottayam’s Meenachil river (September 27), Cheruvathur in Kasaragod (October 2), Piravom (October 4), Ernakulam’s Marine Drive (October 11), Beypore, Kozhikode (October 19), and Kottappuram, Thrissur (October 25). The Alappuzha leg will cover Pulinkunnu (November 1), Karuvatta (November 8), Pandanad (November 15), and Kayamkulam (November 22) before heading to Kallada, Kollam (November 29).
Pallathuruthy Boat Club (PBC), the reigning champion, will defend its title after four consecutive wins. Team details and prize money for CBL-5 will be announced shortly.
A state-level organising committee, chaired by Kerala Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas, will be formed at a meeting in Trivandrum on September 15.
