The Jammu and Kashmir administration has advised pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 to travel only on their allotted registration date, stating that no devotee will be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage before the assigned date. The administration also appealed to pilgrims without prior registration to wait for their turn and follow the prescribed procedure to ensure the safe and smooth conduct of the Yatra.
In an advisory issued on Friday, the administration said the daily maximum number of pilgrims allowed on the pilgrimage route has been fixed in accordance with directions of the Supreme Court. It said compliance with the daily ceiling is mandatory to ensure the safety of pilgrims and the efficient management of the annual pilgrimage.
The administration noted that advance registration had been opened well before the commencement of the Yatra through designated bank branches across the country as well as online platforms, allowing most pilgrims to complete the registration process in advance.
It said, “As directed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court, daily maximum number of pilgrims permitted on the pilgrimage route has been fixed. Compliance with this daily ceiling limit is mandatory for the safety of pilgrims and for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.”
The advisory further stated,”Tatkal (on spot) registration slots are extremely limited. All pilgrims are requested to reach Jammu and Kashmir only after completing their advance registration.”
The administration warned that many registered pilgrims have also been arriving before their scheduled travel date and clarified that they would not be permitted to proceed before the date mentioned on their registration.
Pilgrims who have reached Jammu and Kashmir without registration have been requested to wait until they are allotted a slot.
Reassuring devotees, the administration said, “Be assured that every pilgrim will get an opportunity to undertake the Yatra, but this will be possible only according to the prescribed procedure and available capacity. You are requested to maintain order and cooperate with the administration to ensure everyone’s safety.”
The Amarnath Yatra commenced on July 3 and will conclude on August 28, 2026.
