Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport introduces 70 e-Gates for faster passenger processing

70 e-gates launched at Jeddah airport

King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah has introduced a state-of-the-art e-gate system to streamline passenger check-in and departure procedures. This initiative is designed to improve efficiency and provide travellers with a seamless, hassle-free airport experience.

The system features 70 advanced e-gates that utilise Artificial Intelligence (AI) and modern technology to expedite security checks and boarding processes. These gates are strategically placed across Terminal 1 and the Executive Office facilities, with each unit capable of handling up to 2,500 passengers. With this enhancement, the airport’s daily capacity has significantly increased, allowing it to accommodate up to 175,000 travellers.

This latest development makes King Abdulaziz International Airport the third airport in Saudi Arabia to implement e-gates, following their successful introduction at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Neom Bay Airport. The expansion of this technology is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to modernize its aviation sector, aligning with the goals of Vision 2030.
