Jamaica Tourist Board has reported a strong recovery in the island’s tourism sector, with over one million visitors recorded following recent hurricane-related disruptions, signalling renewed momentum for the destination across key global markets, including India.
The milestone reflects coordinated efforts between government authorities, tourism bodies and industry stakeholders to restore operations swiftly while maintaining visitor confidence. Despite weather-related challenges, Jamaica’s tourism infrastructure resumed activity efficiently, sustaining demand across its core leisure and experiential travel segments.
Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism, said, “Our ability to recover quickly is a testament to the resilience of Jamaica’s tourism sector and the strength of our partnerships. We have built a model that allows us to respond, recover and continue to grow even in the face of disruptions.”
Donovan White, Director of Tourism, said, “Jamaica remains a destination that travellers trust. Our focus has been on ensuring that visitors continue to receive a high-quality experience while we strengthen the systems that support long-term tourism growth.”
The rebound has been driven by Jamaica’s diverse tourism offerings, including luxury resorts, cultural experiences, and nature- and adventure-based travel, which continue to resonate with international travellers.
Supporting this recovery, Jamaica Carnival 2026 has played a key role in boosting visitor engagement, attracting both international and regional travellers and generating demand across hospitality and allied sectors. The event continues to reinforce Jamaica’s positioning as a hub for music, culture and immersive experiences, an area of growing relevance for Indian travellers.
Further enhancing accessibility, Virgin Atlantic is set to increase its London Heathrow–Montego Bay service to daily flights for Summer 2026. The expanded connectivity offers Indian travellers improved one-stop access to Jamaica, complemented by visa-free entry for Indian passport holders.
