Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) supports new ‘Drivers’ Day’ Initiative

The Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU), the Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI), and the All-India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) have jointly announced January 24th as “Drivers’ Day.”

The Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) President Satish Sehrawat and Hon. Secretary K.S. Sawhney expressed their excitement about being part of this initiative. ITTA, the premier national body for tourist transporters recognised by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, is committed to advancing the industry’s standards and improving driver welfare.

Over the years, numerous ITTA members have received the prestigious National Tourism Award, showcasing their exceptional service and dedication. Specialising in luxury transport for international tourists, ITTA collaborates with tour operators, travel agents, and hotels to provide high-end luxury cars and coaches. ITTA’s services prioritise safety, personalised experiences, and client satisfaction, notably by not picking up passengers from the roadside.

ITTA’s expertise extends to managing transport for high-profile events, including state visits, overseas delegations, and mega-events such as the G20. Founded on March 2, 1989, ITTA celebrates 37 years of excellence in the tourist transport industry.

As one of the leading transport associations, ITTA recognises the vital role drivers play in tourism, regarding them as ambassadors of the industry. ITTA has consistently supported driver development through pioneering initiatives such as:

  • Comprehensive one-week training programs for over 1,700 drivers during the Commonwealth Games 2013.
  • Plans for ongoing driver training programs in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism.
  • Recognition of outstanding driver performance, including honouring 10 drivers during their 5th convention.
  • Finalising an agreement with a leading insurance company to provide group insurance coverage for drivers.

In celebration of Drivers’ Day, ITTA, with the full support of IATO, will launch its first Driver’s Training Schedule on February 27, 2025, at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakya Puri, New Delhi.
