IATO signs MoU with Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA)

Signing of MoU between IATO and NATTA

To enhance tourism between India and Nepal, the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) and the Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today in Kathmandu during the ongoing Buddhist International Travel Mart (BITM) 2025.

The MoU was signed by Ravi Gosain, President of IATO, and Kumar Mani Thapaliya, President of NATTA, in the presence of Hon’ble Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation, and Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of Nepal Tourism Board.

The agreement outlines a comprehensive framework to foster stronger tourism collaboration between India and Nepal.

  • Facilitate and increase two-way tourism flows and sustainable tourism growth;
  • Promoting strategic partnerships among member organizations and stakeholders;
  • Enhancing mutual visibility in international markets and platforms.
  • Exchange of tourism-related data, research, trends, and promotional materials;
  • Notification of policy changes in visa, immigration, or tourism regulation that may affect members of either Party;
  • Coordination to enable cooperation among government tourism bodies and private sector operators;
  • Facilitate B2B meetings, networking sessions, and joint conventions between Indian and Nepali travel entrepreneurs;
  • Participation and representation in major trade fairs, expos, and annual conventions (e.g., IATO Annual Convention, NATTA Convention);
  • Joint promotional campaigns for cross-border tour packages, pilgrimage circuits, heritage trails, and adventure tourism;
  • Organizing familiarization/study tours for travel agents, influencers, and media professionals;
  • Encouraging knowledge transfer on legal, marketing, and digital tools to empower members.

Commenting on the occasion, Ravi Gosain stated, President, IATO “Nepal is a strategic tourism partner, especially for tourists from Buddhist countries who often combine visits to both nations. With joint efforts, our members can collaboratively promote and enhance inbound tourism across India and Nepal.”
