To facilitate tourism between India and Japan, IATO, the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Okinawa-India Friendship Association (OIFA) and the Onna Village Tourism Association in New Delhi today. This strategic agreement aims to promote travel exchange and foster closer tourism ties between the two countries.
The MoU was signed on behalf of IATO by Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO, alongside Moritake Tomikawa, President, OIFA, and Rumiko Miyazaki, Chairperson, Onna Village Tourism Association. The signing ceremony was attended by Yoshimi Nagahama, Mayor of Onna Village, and Ravi Gosain, Vice President, IATO, further emphasizing the commitment to strengthening tourism relations.
Speaking at the event, Rajiv Mehra, President, IATO, stated, “India and Japan share warm and friendly relations, providing significant potential to enhance tourist flow between the two nations. The shared objectives of IATO, OIFA, and the Onna Village Tourism Association have now been formalized through this agreement. I am confident that this collaboration will be mutually beneficial and lead to increased tourism opportunities for both sides.”
The main objective of the signing of the MoU is to encourage mutual and beneficial cooperation between the three parties and their members. It aims to identify and remove barriers that hinder the growth of travel between India and Okinawa, and exchange relevant data related to tourism statistics, investment opportunities, and economic insights in the travel and hospitality sectors. Additionally, it focuses on undertaking joint marketing activities through mutual participation in each other’s events, thereby promoting both inbound and outbound tourism.
