Hilton has announced the opening of Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort, expanding the presence of its flagship Hilton brand in Malaysia. Located between a centuries-old tropical rainforest and the Andaman Sea, the new beachfront resort is designed to offer guests an immersive experience combining nature, wellbeing and contemporary hospitality.
Commenting on the opening, Alexandra Murray, Area Vice President and Head of South East Asia, Hilton, said, “The opening of Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort reflects Hilton’s commitment to bringing its flagship brand’s experience to Malaysia’s most renowned leisure destinations. As the country continues to solidify its position as a highly sought-after global destination, we are strategically growing a portfolio that meets the evolving demands of the modern traveler. By bringing Hilton’s world-class hospitality to the beauty of Burau Bay, we are offering a sophisticated new benchmark for full-service hospitality in Langkawi.”

Spanning nearly 22 acres, the resort blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings through the use of weathered stone, warm timber and neutral tones. Its 251 guest rooms and suites, ranging from Terrace and Deluxe Rooms to Executive Suites, feature private terraces or balconies overlooking the rainforest, mountains or sea. Inspired by the surrounding landscape, the rooms combine minimalist design with natural materials, while 16 connecting rooms cater to multi-generational families, balancing privacy with shared spaces.
The resort’s four restaurants continue the nature-inspired design philosophy with open-air terraces, timber interiors and locally inspired artwork. Gingerfire serves Asian and international cuisine, Haliya Lounge offers artisanal coffees and botanical-infused light bites, MINGZHU showcases Yunnan’s spice-rich culinary traditions, and Trattoria Mare presents Italian cuisine in a refined beachfront setting.
Wellness is centred around eforea Spa, which incorporates Langkawi’s coastal setting and indigenous botanicals into its treatments. The spa features outdoor sauna barrels, a dedicated Salt Room for respiratory wellness and skin rejuvenation, and an Elixir Lounge serving artisanal teas to complete the experience.
The wellness offering extends to three swimming pools—for families, children and adults, along with five meditative rock pools. Guests can also enjoy guided rainforest walks through the Nature Center, as well as tennis, pickleball and basketball courts. The Kids’ Club offers a rotating programme of activities, including origami, bracelet making, chess and foosball.
For meetings and celebrations, the resort features more than 5,400 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Facilities include the 4,455-square-foot pillarless Orchid Grand Ballroom for up to 210 guests, flexible Orchid and Jasmine meeting rooms, and outdoor venues such as the Grand Lawn and 650-metre private beachfront, creating a scenic setting for weddings, corporate retreats and social events.
Vincent Ong, Vice President, Full Service Brands, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said, “Hilton Hotels & Resorts is defined by a legacy of iconic hospitality. From the moment our guests arrive, they are welcomed to the very heart and soul of the destination, with meaningful experiences carefully crafted to ensure every guest feels truly hosted. As travelers increasingly prioritize restoration and purposeful discovery, we are focused on growing a portfolio that responds to these shifts. This resort has been designed as a haven that invites guests to slow down and immerse themselves in the island’s natural rhythm, ensuring they leave feeling genuinely energised.”
The opening further strengthens Hilton’s presence in Malaysia, joining its existing portfolio, including the recently opened Hilton Shah Alam Glenmarie and Hilton Garden Inn Kota Kinabalu Tuaran. The group is also preparing to expand its luxury portfolio in the country with the opening of Waldorf Astoria Kuala Lumpur and Conrad Kuala Lumpur later this year.
Hilton Burau Bay Langkawi Resort also participates in the Hilton Honors loyalty programme, enabling members booking directly through Hilton channels to access exclusive benefits such as member discounts, flexible Points and Money bookings, complimentary standard Wi-Fi, and digital services including mobile check-in, room selection and Digital Key access through the Hilton Honors mobile application.
