Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, previously the Jal Shakti Minister in the Narendra Modi government, has been appointed as the new Union Minister of Culture and Tourism.

On his appointment, Shekhawat tweeted, “While performing my duties with utmost sincerity, I will make every possible effort to ensure progressive progress in the culture and tourism sector in building a developed India.”

He added, “In a decade of leadership of Hon’ble Shri Narendra Modi Ji, the vast Indian culture has amazed the world. Similarly, futuristic dimensions have been established in the vast field of tourism full of diversity.

“Coordination of both the departments plays a vital role in building a developed India. It will be my priority that the development of these areas benefits every section of the society and through these, even the last citizen feels connected to the vision of respected Modi ji.”

Shekhawat, who won the Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency by a margin of more than 1.15 lakh votes, is entering his third term in the House of the People. His ministerial journey began during his second tenure when he served as the Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare from September 2017 to May 2019. He was then promoted to the position of Minister of Jal Shakti in May 2019.
