The Ministry of Tourism has released the tourism statistics for May 2024, showcasing growth in the sector.
Foreign Tourist Arrivals (FTAs) for May 2024 were 6.00 lakh, a slight increase from 5.98 lakh in May 2023, marking a 0.3 per cent growth. From January to May 2024, FTAs reached 40.72 lakh, compared to 37.32 lakh during the same period in 2023, reflecting a 9.1 per cent increase.
Foreign Exchange Earnings (FEEs) for May 2024 stood at Rs. 17,762 crores, up from Rs. 17,206 crores in May 2023, registering a 3.23 per cent growth. For the January to May 2024 period, FEEs were Rs. 1,08,362 crores, a significant rise from Rs. 88,441 crores in the same period of 2023, showing a 22.52 per cent increase.
These trends indicate a positive impact on the economic growth and development of the tourism sector in the country, with a consistent increase in both FTAs and FEEs suggesting a robust and expanding industry.
