Travellers from third countries can now enter Estonia restriction-free as the latter has decided to drop all of its COVID entry restrictions.
The Estonian government said that all nationals of third countries, regardless of their country of origin, will no longer be required to present a valid vaccination, recovery, or test certificate upon their arrival in Estonia.
“The repeal of the order governing the crossing of the border will remove restrictions on third-country nationals arriving from outside the European Union, the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino, and the Vatican,” the statement of the government reads.
According to the Estonian Health Board, the decision to lift all of the COVID entry rules has been taken after concluding that the situation is under control. The Health Board said that it is currently unlikely for third-country nationals to affect the epidemiological situation in Estonia.
Apart from lifting the entry rules for non-EU travellers, the Estonian government announced that the quarantine order would expire on July 1. This means that COVID patients and close contacts will no longer be required to remain self-isolated.
The risk of coronavirus transmission in Estonia has decreased to a green level. The World Health Organization shows that Estonia has registered only 633 COVID-19 infection cases in the last seven days.
As for the vaccination rates, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control shows that Estonia has administered a total of 2,061,546 COVID vaccine doses as of June 16. It further reveals that of the entire adult population, 73.3 per cent have completed primary vaccination, and 42.6 per cent have received a booster shot.
