The arrival of Disney Adventure at its new homeport in Singapore on March 3, 2026, marked a defining milestone for Disney Cruise Line. Distinguished by its gold and red detailing and four iconic smokestacks adorned with the Mickey insignia, the magnificent vessel made a grand entry at Marina Bay Cruise Centre. A ceremonial water salute and a burst of fireworks illuminating the Singapore skyline signalled not merely the arrival of a ship, but the dawn of a new era for cruising in Asia.
Invited by Disney Cruise Line, I was part of the christening celebrations and an exclusive four-night preview sailing, an experience that unfolded as a seamless blend of spectacle, storytelling, and immersive hospitality.
A Spectacle of Storytelling
On March 4, I stepped into the Walt Disney Theatre for the christening ceremony, an event that felt less like a formal occasion and more like a meticulously curated Disney production. The unveiling of Disney Adventure, the eighth and largest ship in the fleet, was brought to life through music, visuals, and narrative in true Disney fashion.
Captain Mickey Mouse and Captain Minnie Mouse made delightful appearances, instantly evoking nostalgia. A 23-piece orchestra set the tone, while performances by Jed Madela and Dami Im elevated the experience into something truly cinematic.
Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences and incoming CEO of The Walt Disney Company, joined Joe Schott, President, Disney Signature Experiences, to commemorate the occasion.
The long-awaited star-studded moment unfolded as Iron Man himself, Robert Downey Jr., stepped forward as the ship’s official godparent. With effortless charisma, he delivered the ceremonial blessing, infusing the occasion with unmistakable star power. His playful remark, “You bring the theme, and I’ll bring the thunder,” drew an instant response from the audience, before giving way to the solemn declaration, “I christen thee, Disney Adventure. May God bless this ship and all who sail upon her.”
Welcome Onboard, Let the Cruise Begin
On March 5, 2026, the narrative transitioned seamlessly from ceremony to experience as I, alongside a distinguished mix of journalists, content creators, and trade partners from across Asia, boarded Disney Adventure for an exclusive four-night preview sailing. Conceived as an immersive introduction, the voyage offered a first-hand glimpse into a floating world where imagination, innovation, and hospitality converge with effortless precision.
At 208,000 gross tons and stretching 342 metres in length, Disney Adventure stands as the largest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. With a guest capacity of approximately 6,700 and a crew of around 2,500, the scale is impressive, yet thoughtfully managed. It houses 2,111 staterooms across multiple categories, each thoughtfully designed to blend comfort with Disney’s signature storytelling elements. Sailing from Singapore on three- and four-night itineraries, the ship embraces a unique philosophy: the cruise itself is the destination. A plethora of experiences awaited to be unravelled in an enchanting four-night cruise.
Disney Welcome
The Disney experience begins well before one steps onboard. At the cruise terminal, a cheerful Captain Mickey cut-out set the tone instantly, offering the first of many picture-perfect moments.
The embarkation process was remarkably seamless. With the Disney Navigator App already in place, I moved effortlessly from check-in through customs and immigration, each step intuitively designed for ease. And then, in a moment that felt almost symbolic, my cruise ID was scanned and I crossed the threshold, transitioning into a world where reality gently gives way to imagination.
Warm smiles from the crew, Disney-themed carpets, curated artwork, and expansive wall panels inspired by beloved stories created an atmosphere charged with wonder. Almost instinctively, the outside world receded, replaced by a distinct rhythm that could only be described as ‘Disney mode’.
Wandering through the ship, I stepped into the enchanting Town Square, a living fairytale. Radiant yet serene faces of Disney princesses adorned the ceiling, casting their magical aura over the area. My encounter with Aladdin revealed the child in me as I scuttled for my camera to capture every moment of this bliss in a stream of memorabilia.
Accommodation Galore
Disney Adventure offers an impressive range of accommodation options, ensuring that every guest finds a space that suits their needs and preferences.

At the pinnacle of luxury are the Concierge Suites and Staterooms, which combine refined elegance with personalised service. These accommodations feature spacious layouts, premium amenities, and exclusive privileges, including access to private lounges, dedicated sun decks, first-class spa services, and curated shopping experiences.

Other categories include Deluxe Ocean View Staterooms with Verandah, Deluxe Garden View and Reef View Staterooms with Verandah, Deluxe Ocean View Staterooms, and Deluxe Inside Staterooms, each thoughtfully designed to maximise comfort and functionality. The Deluxe Garden View and Reef View Staterooms with balconies are tailored for families accommodating up to four guests.
My stay in a Deluxe Garden View Stateroom, with a balcony overlooking the Tinker Bell gazebo at Imagination Garden, became an experience in itself. The view unfolded like a living canvas, serene in the early hours, vibrant through the day, and eventually transforming into a luminous, jewel-like setting as night descended. It was a front-row seat to the ship’s ever-evolving rhythm.

Inside, the stateroom was intuitively designed, featuring split bathrooms, generous storage, and well-appointed wardrobes. Thoughtful touches such as Bacha Coffee sachets and TWG Tea selections added a layer of refinement, while 24-hour room service ensured that comfort and convenience remained constant throughout the voyage.
Family Fun at Sea
Since the moment of stepping on board the Disney Adventure, it was clear that this was not just another cruise; it was an experience designed solely for joy and delight. There were no ports of call to distract, and there was no rush to see everything ashore. The ship itself was the destination, where peace surrendered to its rhythm.
Each morning began with a sense of anticipation as I opened the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App, scrolling through a dynamic, ever-evolving schedule where something magical unfolded at every hour.

I watched as children moved around the ship in fairytale attire, bringing the Disney world vividly to life. At the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, little ones were transformed into doe-eyed princesses, valiant knights, and sea captains, each makeover carefully crafted by the fairy godmother’s apprentices.
Stories stepped right off the screen into real life. Real life imitated the reel, and families lit up during meet-and-greets with Marvel superheroes. There were characters, not staged, not distant, but alive, present, and delightful. While casually strolling the deck, you are face-to-face with Pluto, Chip & Dale, a moment stirring surprising personal evocations.

At Imagination Garden, the experience took on a theatrical dimension. The central stage came alive with performances such as Avengers Assemble and Duffy and The Friend Ship, drawing guests into a shared spectacle of music, storytelling, and energy. With a refreshing drink in hand, I found myself pausing to take it all in before wandering towards nearby dining venues.
Gramma Tala’s Kitchen offered a relaxed, indulgent spread of comfort favourites, from hot dogs and burgers to pulled pork and spiced fries, while Mowgli’s Eatery, inspired by The Jungle Book, served familiar Indian flavours in both vegetarian and non-vegetarian offerings, adding a comforting touch of home to the experience.
Toy Story Place, Where Play Takes Over
Up on the decks at Toy Story Place, I truly had a notion of being shrunk into Andy’s backyard. The surroundings were resplendent with excitement and joy; the Sunnyside Family Pool, the exhilarating twists of Woody and Jessie’s Wild Slides echoed with thrill and laughter. Kids dashed through the Flying Saucer Splash Zone, while some splashed gleefully in the Toy Story Splash Pad.
For a moment, I imagined a quieter pause for myself, sinking into a whirlpool, a cool drink in hand, as a Disney film played on a giant outdoor screen. It was that rare balance, vibrant activity all around, yet pockets of calm exactly when I needed them.
And of course, indulgence was inevitable. A slice from Pizza Planet, paired with something icy from Wheezy’s Freezies, felt like the perfect way to round off the experience.
Adrenaline Rush at Marvel Landing
For an entirely different kind of thrill, I made my way to Marvel Landing, where the inner thrill-seeker comes alive.
The highlight here is the Ironcycle Test Run, the first roller coaster at sea, stretching over 820 feet. Even from the sidelines, observing it in motion offered a sense of what to expect, the speed, the wind, and the visual interplay with the ocean below suggest a distinctly engaging experience.
Alongside it, the playful chaos of Groot Galaxy Spin and the high-energy Pym Quantum Racers add to the momentum, making it clear that this space is designed not just for family fun, but for full-scale adventure.
At the aft, I discovered the serenity of Disney Discovery Reef, where the underwater world came alive in subtle, immersive ways. Dining here felt like a journey, from Cosmic Kebabs to a quiet coffee at Palo Café. As night descended, the glowing, luminous ambience created a calm, fortuitous atmosphere for a ship brimming with life.

The Wayfinder Bay at the stern is a peaceful retreat, ideal for delving into a book while sipping a cocktail, soaking up the sun during the day, and gazing at the bejewelled star-studded skies at night. Inspired by the Disney Movie, Moana, it is also the venue for the Moana – Call of the Sea, a house musical production. Float in the realm of fantasy as the story unfolds against the backdrop of a clear azure ocean.
Parents can be comfortably assured that younger guests aged 3 to 10 are wonderfully cared for at Disney’s Oceaneer Club, where storytelling, games, crafts, and immersive play areas keep them endlessly engaged. For the littlest ones, the ‘It’s a Small World’ nursery caters to infants and toddlers aged six months to three years, offering a safe, nurturing environment under attentive supervision.
Dining as an Experience
Dining onboard quickly became an experience I found myself looking forward to each evening, anchored by Disney’s signature rotational dining concept. What stood out most was the remarkable continuity, my serving team accompanied me across venues, intuitively recalling preferences and transforming each meal into something deeply personal.

At the Hollywood Spotlight Club, I soaked in the glamour of a bygone era. The Navigator’s Club transported me to a world of timeless maritime elegance. But it was Animator’s Palate that was completely captivating, watching characters drawn come to life on the walls and witnessing magic conjure before our mortal vision.
The Enchanted Summer Restaurant, with its Tangled and Frozen-inspired settings, added yet another layer of delight. And just when I thought it could not get better, familiar faces like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy made appearances, turning dinner into a celebration.
Shopping, More Than Just Retail
With nearly 19,000 square feet dedicated to retail, shopping onboard Disney Adventure emerged as an experience.

At the World of Disney, I wandered through an expansive collection of memorabilia, collectibles, and beautifully designed merchandise. The themed mugs, clothing, stickers, fridge magnets, and stuffed toys spoil you for choice.
For a more refined indulgence, I found myself returning every day to the TWG Tea Salon and Boutique to sip expertly crafted blends. The Bacha Coffee Room, just next door, is a celebration of a mind-boggling array of single-origin and flavoured Bean Arabica wonders. These were not just shops; they were curated experiences that enhanced and enriched my voyage.
The Lion King Celebration in the Sky
One of the most unforgettable moments of the voyage unfolds beneath the open sky. As night falls, the energy subtly shifts, drawing almost every guest to the upper decks in quiet anticipation of the spectacle to come.
Our very own superstar, Shah Rukh Khan, lends his voice to The Lion King Celebration in the Sky show, delighting with a sense of familiarity and pride as an international audience stands witness to this first public staging at sea.
The fireworks lit up the night sky, transforming it into a lively canvas of dancing colours and splashes of light, casting their floral reflection on the sea below and creating a surreal effect. I stood immersed and mesmerised, as the spectacle made me both nostalgic and emotional, reminding me of the many fireworks shows I had witnessed at the Disney Parks around the globe.
Magical Moments of Nostalgia and Fun
Entertainment sits at the very heart of the Disney experience, and aboard Disney Adventure, it unfolds in truly more than one extraordinary way. The transition from the grandeur of Broadway-style productions at the Walt Disney Theatre to the vibrant energy of open-air performances at Wayfinder Bay and the Imagination Garden Stage feels seamless, an ongoing celebration of storytelling that flows effortlessly from one space to another.

As much as it captivated the children around me, it was the child within me that found itself completely immersed. Shows such as Duffy and The Friend Ship, Remember, Avengers Assemble, Moana – Call of the Sea, Disney Seas the Adventure, and Baymax unfolded like living stories, each performance layered with music, emotion, and visual spectacle. Together, they created moments that lingered far beyond the final curtain, etching themselves into memory with quiet permanence.
As Disney Adventure glides into Asian waters, the beginning of an exciting new chapter in family cruising unfurls, one that brings Disney’s timeless storytelling closer to home in the most seamless manner. The effortless blend of innovation, world-class entertainment, and warm hospitality transforms the very idea of a family vacation at sea into something far more immersive and meaningful.
And as the lights shimmer gently across the decks and stories unfold at every turn, there is a quiet sense of palpable magic that lingers in the air. In that very moment, it feels only natural to pause, take it all in, and say, “Let the adventure continue.”
