The Virgin Atlantic Board has confirmed its succession plan for Chief Executive Officer, with Shai Weiss set to step down at the end of 2025 after a successful seven-year tenure. Corneel Koster, currently Chief Customer and Operating Officer, will assume the role of CEO on January 1, 2026.
Corneel re-joined Virgin Atlantic in 2019 as a Board Member and Chief Customer Officer, later expanding his remit to include operations. He has been instrumental in delivering the airline’s renowned customer experience, leading frontline teams, overseeing operational transformation, and guiding the introduction of the A330neo aircraft. With three decades of experience across Virgin Atlantic, Delta Air Lines, Aeroméxico, and KLM, Corneel brings deep expertise and passion for the aviation industry.
Shai Weiss, who became CEO in January 2019 after serving as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Commercial Officer, successfully steered the airline through the Covid-19 pandemic, oversaw its full transformation, and delivered record performance in 2024. Under his leadership, Virgin Atlantic returned to profitability, consistently led customer satisfaction across the Atlantic, and was recognised as the UK’s only Global Five Star airline by APEX as well as Newsweek’s No. 1 Most Loved Workplace.
