The Chinese Embassy and its Consulates across India have issued over 50,000 visas to Indian nationals as of March 17, 2025. The announcement was made by Chinese Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, through a post on social media platform X.
Ambassador Xu highlighted a series of measures implemented by Chinese authorities to simplify the visa process for Indian travellers. These include the removal of the mandatory online appointment system, exemption from biometric data collection for short-term stays, and a reduction in visa fees.
“As of March 17, 2025, Chinese Embassy and Consulates in India have issued more than 50,000 visas to Indian citizens traveling to China,” Ambassador Xu posted. “Measures have been taken to make it easier to visit China, such as no online appointment any more, biometric collection exemption for short term stay, visa fees deduction and so on.”
In a warm, seasonal message, he added, “While flowers blossom in Spring, we welcome more Indian friends to visit China and get a first-hand experience of China in spring.”
The streamlined visa procedures are expected to further strengthen tourism, business, academic, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
