The existing TGV INOUI rail service connecting Brussels and France is set to be extended to Basel, Switzerland, from July 2027, further strengthening rail connectivity between Belgium, France and Switzerland.
The expanded service will be operated through a partnership between SNCF Voyageurs, the SNCF Group’s passenger rail operator, SNCB, Belgium’s national passenger rail operator, and Swiss Federal Railways (SBB). Initially, the route will operate one return service on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, offering travellers a sustainable and convenient alternative to air travel across the three markets.
The extension is expected to enhance international rail travel options, enabling passengers from Switzerland to connect onward to London via Lille or continue to destinations in the Netherlands through Brussels. However, under the current timetable, connections from London to Switzerland via Lille will not be possible.
From early July 2027, the Basel–Brussels service will follow the same route as the existing Brussels–France TGV INOUI operation. Departing Brussels-Midi at approximately 7:00 a.m., the train will stop at Lille-Europe, Charles de Gaulle Airport TGV, Champagne-Ardenne TGV, Meuse TGV, Lorraine TGV and Strasbourg-Ville before arriving at Basel SBB around 12:30 p.m.
The return service will depart Basel at approximately 2:00 p.m. and arrive in Brussels around 7:00 p.m. Passengers connecting at Lille-Europe for London are expected to reach the UK capital at approximately 8:00 p.m. local time.
Tickets for the extended Basel–Brussels TGV INOUI service are expected to go on sale in spring 2027.
