Ben Gurion Airport’s Terminal 1 is set to resume operations by the end of March 2025, following its temporary closure after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attack, which led to a sharp decline in international tourism amid the Gaza War.
International passengers departing from Terminal 1 will undergo the full departure process, including security screening, flight check-in, passport control, duty-free shopping, and boarding. Some airlines will operate from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and passengers are advised to check the Israel Airports Authority website before traveling to confirm their departure terminal.
Domestic flights are scheduled to return in the last week of March, while international flights will gradually resume by the end of the month. The airport anticipates over 1,377 flights departing from Terminal 1 in April, accounting for nearly a quarter of all passengers leaving Ben Gurion Airport.
“The return of airlines to Terminal 1 will provide passengers with direct access to popular destinations, including Sofia, Budapest, Bucharest, Berlin, Rome, Athens, Rhodes, Warsaw, and Vienna,” the Israel Airports Authority stated.
For passenger convenience, long-term and short-term parking options will be available. A free internal shuttle service will operate according to flight schedules, and authorized taxis will be available at both Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 for travel to destinations across Israel.
