Greece is bracing for major disruptions on April 9, as the country’s public sector braces for a 24-hour nationwide strike called by ADEDY, the federation of public-sector employees. The mobilisation will see participation from a wide range of workers, including Greek Air Traffic Controllers, seafarers, teachers, municipal employees, and members of the Athens Labor Center and the Panhellenic Federation of Catering and Tourism Workers.
The strike is expected to significantly affect air travel, with Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos announcing that no flights will operate to or from the airport from 00:00 to 23:59 on April 9.
In response, Aegean Airlines and Olympic Air have announced special provisions for affected passengers. Travellers with bookings on April 9 are being offered the following options:
- Free ticket reissue without any fare difference through Aegean’s call center: +30 210 626 1000
- Credit voucher application available online at aegeanair.com and olympicair.com
- Full refund request through Aegean’s online refund form
