Airbnb has announced a major expansion of its travel ecosystem with the addition of new travel services, exclusive experiences, boutique hotel inventory and AI-powered planning tools aimed at transforming the platform beyond accommodation bookings.
The announcement builds on the company’s expansion into Airbnb Experiences and Airbnb Services introduced last year, which allowed travellers to book accommodation, local experiences and in-home hospitality services through a single platform.
According to Airbnb, millions of users globally have already used the integrated platform to combine stays with curated destination experiences and travel services.
This winter, Airbnb plans to further expand its offering by introducing additional service categories designed to simplify every stage of travel, alongside new exclusive experiences linked to the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the addition of thousands of boutique and independent hotels.
Brian Chesky, Co-founder and CEO, Airbnb, said, “Travel shouldn’t just be convenient. It should be meaningful. The best trips help you explore, learn and come home a little different than when you left. That’s what we’re building at Airbnb. And this winter, we’re giving people even more ways to do it, from incredible places to stay and boutique hotels that feel like Airbnb, to unforgettable World Cup experiences and services that make your trip easier,”
As part of the latest rollout, Airbnb is introducing several new travel-related services aimed at improving convenience before and during trips.
The company has partnered with Instacart to offer grocery delivery services across more than 25 cities in the United States. Guests will be able to arrange grocery deliveries before arrival or during their stay, with selected hosts also able to pre-stock homes ahead of check-in.
Airbnb is also launching airport pickup services through a partnership with Welcome Pickups across more than 160 cities globally, enabling travellers to book private airport transfers linked directly to their Airbnb reservation.
In addition, the company is expanding into luggage storage through a partnership with Bounce, providing travellers access to more than 15,000 luggage storage locations across 175 cities worldwide.
Later this winter, Airbnb also plans to introduce car rental discovery and booking services directly within the app, allowing guests to locate rental vehicles close to their accommodation.
Alongside services, Airbnb is significantly expanding its Experiences platform, adding thousands of new locally led activities across categories including landmarks, food culture and global events.
According to the company, Airbnb Experiences currently hold an average guest rating of 4.93 out of 5 stars.
The platform is introducing more than 3,000 landmark experiences globally, including guided access to attractions such as the Tower of London, Tokyo Skytree and Taj Mahal through local experts and hosts.
Airbnb is also expanding culinary experiences through partnerships with Chef’s Table and Grand Central Market, giving travellers access to chefs, markets and destination-specific dining experiences.
One of the major additions announced by the company is a series of exclusive FIFA World Cup 2026 experiences across six host cities.
The experiences will include watch parties with former football stars Abby Wambach and Julie Foudy in Los Angeles, alongside football training experiences with former Argentine player and coach Javier Mascherano.
Airbnb is also entering the boutique and independent hotel segment, adding thousands of hotels across 20 leading global destinations, including New York City, Paris, London, Madrid, Rome and Singapore.
According to Airbnb, the selected hotels are intended to retain the neighbourhood-focused and design-led identity associated with Airbnb rather than traditional large hotel chains.
The company also announced a price match guarantee for eligible hotel bookings and Airbnb credit incentives linked to selected hotel stays.
In parallel, Airbnb is rolling out several AI-powered app upgrades designed to improve discovery, planning and customer support.
These include AI-generated review summaries, AI-powered accommodation comparison tools, shared itinerary planning features and a new travel map enabling users to view destinations previously visited by friends and family through Airbnb.
The platform’s AI-powered customer support assistant is also being expanded globally in 11 languages, with voice-enabled support expected to launch later this year.
The new travel services, boutique hotels and experiences are already available across selected countries globally, while additional app features and car rental functionality will roll out later this winter.
