Air New Zealand has announced expanded connectivity between India and New Zealand through increased capacity via Singapore, including the launch of a new nonstop Singapore–Christchurch service.

The new route will complement Air New Zealand’s existing Auckland–Singapore operations and forms part of a broader capacity expansion planned for the upcoming Northern Winter season.

The Singapore–Christchurch service will operate three times weekly and offer more than 34,000 seats during the season, providing Indian travellers with additional routing options to New Zealand via Singapore.

Nikhil Ravishankar, Chief Executive, Air New Zealand

Nikhil Ravishankar, Chief Executive, Air New Zealand, said the expanded services significantly improve connectivity between India and New Zealand.

“We’re seeing strong demand in both directions for travel between India and New Zealand, whether that’s for tourism, education, business or visiting family and friends. By increasing capacity through Singapore, we’re making it easier for Indian travellers to get to New Zealand, with more choice, better connections and more efficient journey times,” says Nikhil Ravishankar.

Ravishankar also highlighted that the new Christchurch service will improve access to New Zealand’s South Island without requiring multiple domestic connections.

He said, “The introduction of our new Christchurch services also opens up more direct access to the South Island, one of New Zealand’s most sought-after destinations, without the need for multiple connections. What sets Air New Zealand apart is the strength of our domestic network, from Christchurch and Auckland, we can also quickly connect customers to another 18 destinations across New Zealand, so it’s easy to explore multiple regions in one trip.”

The Singapore–Christchurch route will be operated using the airline’s retrofitted Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft for the first time on this service.

The upgraded aircraft feature redesigned Business Premier seating, a new Premium Economy cabin, refreshed Economy Class interiors, enhanced inflight entertainment and improved long-haul comfort across all cabins.

Flights are now on sale, with services scheduled to operate from October 2026 through the Northern Winter season, subject to regulatory approvals.

Between October 28 and November 27, 2026, Christchurch–Singapore flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while Singapore–Christchurch flights will operate on the same days.

From November 30, 2026, to March 26, 2027, Christchurch–Singapore services will continue operating on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while Singapore–Christchurch flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with a Sunday operation replacing Monday services during November.
