Air India bolsters winter network with new routes to Khajuraho and Jaisalmer

Air India has announced enhancements to its domestic route network under the Northern Winter Schedule 2026, aimed at strengthening connectivity to several of India’s prominent heritage and spiritual destinations.

Starting October 25, 2026, the airline will introduce daily flights to Khajuraho, connecting the UNESCO-listed temple town with Delhi and Varanasi. The new services will operate on a triangular circuit designed to facilitate seamless travel for visitors exploring India’s cultural and spiritual landmarks.

Under the new routing, flights will operate Delhi–Khajuraho–Varanasi–Delhi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, while Delhi–Varanasi–Khajuraho–Delhi services will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The airline said the alternating schedule will provide flexibility for travellers wishing to combine visits to Varanasi’s historic ghats and Khajuraho’s famed medieval temples in a single itinerary.

The new route is expected to strengthen the Delhi–Khajuraho–Varanasi tourism circuit, which has gained popularity among travellers seeking deeper immersion in India’s artistic and spiritual heritage.

Air India has also announced a new seasonal daily service between Mumbai and Jaisalmer starting October 25, 2026, expanding access to the desert destination during the peak winter tourism season. The service will complement the airline’s existing Delhi–Jaisalmer winter flights, providing direct connectivity for travellers from western India.

Additionally, Air India will add an extra daily frequency between Delhi and Gaya, offering both morning and afternoon departures in each direction. The increase is expected to enhance accessibility and provide greater flexibility for travellers visiting the important Buddhist pilgrimage destination in Bihar.

The newly introduced flights are also scheduled to facilitate seamless onward connections for international travellers arriving in India. Through Air India’s network, passengers from major destinations across Europe, Southeast Asia and the Far East will be able to connect conveniently to Khajuraho, Varanasi and Gaya.

The airline noted that the schedule aligns with flights arriving from international gateways, including London (Heathrow), Birmingham, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Vienna and Zurich, as well as Asian destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Denpasar (Bali), Seoul (Incheon), Hong Kong and Tokyo (Haneda).
