Amid the evolving geopolitical situation involving Iran and parts of the Middle East, Indian carriers IndiGo and Air India have announced temporary suspensions and cancellations of flights across multiple Middle East and long-haul international sectors, citing safety and security considerations.
IndiGo has suspended flight operations to and from the Middle East and select international sectors until March 1, 2026. The airline stated that the decision has been taken in view of the evolving situation in the region.
To support affected passengers, IndiGo is offering full flexibility and waivers for travel to and from the Middle East and select international destinations until March 7, 2026, applicable to bookings made on or before February 28, 2026. Customers have the option to either seek a full refund or reschedule their travel at no additional cost.
Air India has also cancelled a series of flights scheduled for March 1, 2026, as part of its ongoing assessment of the situation in the Middle East. The airline stated that the safety and security of guests and staff remain its highest priority.
The cancellations include key routes between India and major global hubs such as London (Heathrow and Gatwick), New York (JFK), Newark, Chicago (via Vienna), Toronto (via Vienna), Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, Zurich, Milan, Vienna, Copenhagen and Birmingham, across departures from Delhi, Mumbai, Amritsar and Bengaluru.
In addition to previously announced cancellations, the airline confirmed further curtailments affecting multiple London Heathrow services, as well as flights to Frankfurt and other European destinations.
Air India said impacted passengers are being notified through their registered contact details and that efforts are underway to assist with rebooking and alternative travel arrangements. The airline has advised customers to check their flight status via its official website or contact its 24/7 call centre for the latest updates.
